Cette fois ça se passe avec les Mirage espagnols (Mirage IIIEE ou C11), en 1977, et c'est un américain himself qui raconte:
Le texte qui suit a été écrit par Ed Rasimus, ancien pilote de l’USAF. I had the opportunity during 1977 to play in a Spanish air defence exercise out of Torrejon. I refuelled in a 3-bag F-4C on Malaga track, straight east of Gibraltar TACAN. My fragged profile was supersonic from the med coast above FL 400 to overflight of the target, Madrid. I hit the coast near Torremolinos and lit reheat. As the tanks went dry the airplane built speed and it only took about 18 minutes to run from the coast to Madrid. Starting just above the mach at full weight, the airplane was finally doing 1.6M as I approached Madrid. Then I got to see the absolute best intercept I've ever seen. A Spanish Mirage III running a supersonic stern conversion on me at FL 450 and Mach 1.6. He was going to fall into weapons parameters just as I got to the end of my run and required to come out of burner and slow to avoid booming Madrid. I pulled out of A/B and started a four G climbing turn into his attack and in the process of slowing I took the airplane up to FL 680, then holding the turn spiralled back down to 30 K feet with the Mirage comfortably saddled up through the whole process. I gave him a wing rock and he returned to Manises outside of Valencia and I dropped into Torrejon. Man, it gets really dark at that altitude.
