	The Air Force Staff announced on Wednesday, January 13 that a Predator A-PLUS aerial vehicle crashed into the sea during flight training off the coast of Puglia (Southeastern Italy). A preliminary reconstruction of event shows Predator took off from the 32nd Wing air base at Amendola (Foggia province) at 10.15 hours for a training mission. It was in level flight when it lost contact with the base about an hour after take-off.

A pair of AM-X aircraft belonging to the 32nd Stormo (squadron) immediately took off from Foggia air base to find the Predator, which was sighted on the sea off the town Campomarino (Campobasso).

The aircraft has now been recovered by air force personnel, and a Commission of Inquiry has been appointed to ascertain the causes of the accident.

There are no indications of any damages to persons or property.

This is the first time a Predator aerial vehicle operated by the Air Force crashes, after about 6,000 hours of operational flight in Italy and in the Afghan and Iraqi theaters of operations. [/quote][/quote]
