December 15: Sukhoi has finished refurbishing the Russian Air Force’s fleet of Su-24M2 Fencer-D bombers, ending a three-year contract at the company’s V P Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (NAPO) facility in Novosibirsk.

The number of aircraft upgraded is not known, but the Russian Air Force operates about 260 Su-24Ms, the M2 having an upgraded cockpit with multi-function displays, digital moving-map generator, helmet-mounted sights and provision for the latest guided weapons. It is highly unlikely that all 260 aircraft have been upgraded, given the short timescale.

NAPO has also started production of the Su-34. In 2008 the Russian Defence Ministry awarded Sukhoi a contract to supply 32 aircraft to the Russian Air Force. [/quote][/quote]
