December 17: The last of 20 EC635 light helicopters was delivered to the Swiss Air Force at Alpnach airbase ordered as part of the 'Transport Helicopter 2005' (TH-05) programme. The aircraft will be known as TH-05 in Swiss service.

The first four EC635s were manufactured at the Donauwörth Eurocopter factory in Germany with the first handed over to the Swiss federal procurement agency armasuisse on March 7, 2008. The aircraft was accepted by the Swiss Air Force on August 19, 2008, with the first Swiss-assembled example following suit on August 28.

The EC635s have been acquired to replace the Alouette III, which will be retired next year and will equip Air Transport Squadrons 6 and 8 at Alpnach. Two of the new helicopters will be assigned to the Army’s Air Transport service for VIP transport, and will be based at Bern-Belp airfield. [/quote][/quote]
