The two-seater Spitfire plane is to be sold at public auction at the Royal Airforce (RAF) Museum in Hendon, north London on 20 April 2009. The plane, which was built in 1944, has gone on public display at Thruxton airfield near Andover, Hampshire. The plane had been sold to the South African Air Force after WW II and was rediscoved in the 1970s in a Cape Town scrapyard. A five-year restoration project and many new parts, including a German made propeller has now made the Spitfire airworthy[/i][/quote]
