Un article intéressant du Daily Star reprit par la plupart des sites d'informations militaires

Il parait que les tests par climat chaud sont limités en attendant de régler le problème, d'après l'article le F-35 n'aurait même pas la capacité d'atterrir avec ses munitions.

Le F-35 risque la surchauffe car les concepteurs le voulant furtif ont éliminés les systèmes de ventilations classiques , l'appareil nécessite une grande quantité de fuel pour le refroidissement ce qui cause une baisse du rayon d'action.

Le problème est encore plus prononcé pour les versions à décollage court.

Dans sa forme actuelle le F-35 sera limité par temps chaud et les modifications sensés régler ce problème ne pourront être testés qu'à partir de 2011-2012, moment où le royaume uni aura avancé dans la construction de navire sensés accueillir le JSF.

Le ministère de la défense admet que la tache d'adapter le F-35 pour les climats chauds est exigeante mais estime qu'elle est réalisable.
