Voici une news importante : c'est officiel, le V-22 part en déploiement pour l'Irak, mais le trajet est en bateau ... :mrgreen:

A noter que le V-22 ne sera que peu exposé en Irak par rapport aux hélicos classiques : vol haute altitude, vitesse nettement supérieure, large autonomie supprimant les ravitaillements en vol tous les 300km des CH-46...

The Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C.-based squadron will operate out of Al Asad Air Base during its seven-month deployment.

“The purpose of this is to take these Ospreys to where they can get into the fight,” Hill said. “They will go to a point from which they’ll deploy from the ship.”

VMM-263 includes 10 tilt-rotors and about 200 Marines and sailors. The squadron has been preparing for its combat deployment debut the past several months, doing everything from taking grunts on their first Osprey flights to integration training with other aircraft.

A noter que 2007 semble être bien partie pour être l'année ZERO pour le V-22, qui multiplie les initiatives (se poser sur un navire de la Royal Navy, sauver deux soldats U.S lors d'un exercice, arrivée en Irak, et célébrité avec des meetings & le film [b]Transformers[/b], qui met en scène des V-22 lors de scènes tournées l'an dernier, j'avais mis la news d'ailleurs !)[/quote]
